Road Improvement Update

Starting Sunday, July 27th for approximately 3-4 weeks the contractor will be installing drainage pipe across LaGrange Road between 167th and 143rd. Work is anticipated to begin at 9pm each day.

Temporary lane closures will be necessary to complete this work. All work is weather dependent.

131st Street to 143rd Street
Northbound daily lane closures between the hours of 4 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for topsoil removal, structure excavation for retaining wall construction and pavement milling/removal. An electronic message board will be placed for northbound LaGrange traffic indicating lane closures north of the bridge, which will display an option for motorists to take an alternative route.

Creek Drive to 143rd

* Retaining wall excavation and construction
* Pavement removal north of 135th northbound
* Excavation and grading for permanent pavement is ongoing

143rd Street to 159th Street
Northbound & southbound daily lane closures will occur between 144th Place and 149th Street for pre-stage storm sewer installation. Lane closure times take place Monday through Friday from 2 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 2a.m. to 11 a.m. Work is expected to last at least two weeks.

* Retaining wall excavation & construction
* Storm sewer construction from 147th to 149th – southbound lanes closures, right lane
* Temporary lighting installation from 144th to 147th - southbound lanes closures, right lane
* Excavation for temporary pavement construction
* Work at Marley Creek (south of 153rd) is ongoing

159th Street to 179th Street
Northbound & southbound daily lane closures will occur between the hours of 4 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for retaining wall, earthwork, temporary pavement and sewer construction. New traffic configuration is anticipated to be established between 159th Street and 167th Street, July 17-19. Traffic is being shifted to the west side of US 45 via new pavement striping and by utilizing the recently constructed temporary pavement. This shift will allow work to begin on the new northbound lanes.

* Retaining wall excavation & construction
* Pavement, curb and gutter and median removal
* Force main installation
* Move traffic to west side 1 from 159th to 167th week of July 21, 2014
* Excavation and grading for permanent pavement is ongoing

LaGrange Road (US Route 45) is a north-south arterial highway that travels through the center of the Village of Orland Park, small portions of the Village of Orland Hills, along the western edge of Tinley Park and parts of Palos Park. It is a primary roadway that provides access to shopping and employment as well as access to Interstate 80.
