Tinley Creek Stabilization Meeting

This is to inform you of a Public Meeting regarding the Tinley Creek Streambank Stabilization Project.  The meeting is to be held:

  • Wednesday September 23, 2020, 6:00 - 7:30PM at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14700 Ravinia Avenue Orland Park, IL 60462
  • The meeting will be set up to meet social distancing requirements. We request all attendees to use a face mask for the duration of the meeting.

The project, which was initially planned and designed by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC), has long been stalled by easement issues related to the private ownership of Tinley Creek. The Village of Orland Park (Village) is partnering with the MWRDGC to try to resolve the outstanding easement issues, and other related items, to permanently address the severe and continuous erosion of the banks of Tinley Creek.  Although Tinley Creek is ENTIRELY privately owned, the MWRDGC and Village are prepared to invest significant resources and financial funds, in excess of $4 million dollars, to resolve the private creek erosion issues.  Your attendance at this meeting would illustrate your understanding of your responsibility as a property owner of Tinley Creek and your acknowledgement of the Village and MWRDGC’s commitment to the project.  The following items will be addressed in the meeting:

  • Planned streambank improvements
  • Easements
  • Project schedule
  • Long-term maintenance
  • Project funding
  • Other related questions by the property owners

MWRDGC representative(s) will attend this meeting in person and will answer questions related to the project.

If you are able to attend, please RSVP to engineering@orlandpark.org by 5PM, Tuesday, September 22. If you are interested, but unable to attend the meeting, please email tparry@cbbel.com with your questions or concerns.  We appreciate your time and consideration of this project and the Village and MWRDGC look forward to meeting and assisting all impacted property owners with a permanent resolution to the creek erosion issues.
