Submitting a FOIA Request
  1. All FOIA requests for records must be in writing.  The Village of Orland Park does not require the completion of a standard form for this purpose but you may download a FOIA Request Form Click Here  or obtain one from the Village Clerk’s Office.  You may also submit your written request in person at the Village Clerk’s Office (located on the main floor of the Village Hall) or by mail, fax or e-mail.  Please direct your request to:

                                                        Freedom of Information Officer
                                                        Village of Orland Park
                                                        14700 South Ravinia Avenue
                                                        Orland Park, IL   60462
                                                        FAX:  (708) 403-6153
                                                        E-MAIL:  To the FOIA Officer
  2. Please be as specific as possible when describing the records you are seeking.  Please also understand that the Freedom of Information Act is designed to allow you to inspect or receive copies of records.  It is not designed to require a public body to create a record that does not exist or to answer questions.  In addition FOIA is not intended to compel the Village to interpret or advise requesters as to the meaning or significance of public records.
  4. Please tell us whether you would like copies of the requested records, or whether you wish to examine the records in person.  You have the right to either option.
  6. Please tell us if the FOIA request is for a commercial purpose which means the use of any part of a public record or records, or information derived from public record, in any form for sale, resale, or solicitation or advertisement for sales or services.
  8. You are permitted to ask for a waiver of copying fees.  If you do so please include a specific explanation as to why your request for information is in the public interest – not simply your personal interest – and merits a fee waiver.
  10. Please include your name, preferred telephone number(s), mailing address, and, if you wish, your electronic mail address.
