The Mayor and Trustees have made a commitment to Village residents to improve the quality of water service in Orland Park. In 2013, as part of this commitment, the Public Works Department will be replacing the watermain in the Orland Hills Gardens subdivision and a portion of the older section of town near 144th Place and Jefferson Avenue.
The Orland Hills Gardens subdivision will have watermain, constructed in the '60s, replaced along Huntington Court, Hopkins Court, Hale Drive, Highland Avenue, Hawthorne Drive, Hyacinth Drive, Hazel Court, Hibiscus Drive, 151st Street, Holiday Court, Hilltop Drive, Hilltop Court, Hickory Drive and Hiawatha Trail.
The portion of the Old Orland will have the mains replaced along 144th Place between Beacon Avenue and LaGrange Road, Jefferson Avenue from 143rd Street to 144th Place, Ravinia Lane and Ravinia Court.
The existing watermain, fire hydrants, valves and the portion of the water services from the water main to the shut off valve (B-Box) will be fully replaced.
Construction will occur from February to mid-July and consist of new water services to all users as well as new fire hydrants, control valves, etc.
The watermain replacement project is being completed in advance of planned road rehabilitation. Once the underground work is completed, the street will be prepared and resurfaced. All areas will be restored following construction.
Water service may be interrupted during construction of the water main for short periods of time. The interruptions may be due to connections of new mains or switching the old water service to the new water service. Roads or lanes of the road may be temporarily blocked or closed during daytime hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will provide pertinent notices and signs to keep you abreast of our progress. As work begins, the Public Works Department would appreciate residents and visitors not parking on the street that the contractor is installing the watermain during the hours of 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
As the watermain work proceeds in these area, please notify the contractor (Austin Tyler Construction) if you have a sprinkler system in front or side of your home adjacent to the street. You may also contact the Public Works Department regarding the sprinkler or other concerns that you may have.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the construction, please call Bill Cunningham with the Village of Orland Park Public Works Department at (708) 403-6350. Thank you.
