Overview
The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is a statutory body that sits pursuant to mayoral appointment and independently fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the hiring, firing, promotion and discipline of police officers for the Village of Orland Park.

The three person commission is comprised of: David J. O’Connor, Laura Hynes, and Thomas Mahoney. Their recording secretary is Michele Mehalek and commission attorney is Ron Broida.

Although the official title suggests oversight of Fire Department personnel, in Orland Park all actions concerning the Fire Department falls under the jurisdiction of elected trustees of the Orland Fire Protection District.
