Energy Impact Illinois is being led by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. Key funding for the program was provided by The U.S. Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Energy Impact Illinois is an alliance of local and federal organizations, utility companies, and not-for-profit groups that helps homeowners who are interested in taking action to lower the cost of their energy bills and create a more comfortable home.

The Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County maintains both Energy Efficiency Programs and Home Energy Assistance Programs to help families make ends meet. The Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program is similar to Nicor's incentives and includes Peoples Energy customers.
