Special Olympics

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics of Illinois. In 2012, the Torch run was able to present Special Olympics of Illinois a check for $2,980,000. With the help of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, athletes and their families are able to participate in the Special Olympics of Illinois at no cost. The Orland Park Police Department has participated every year for the last 27 years.

We have participated in:

Super Polar Plunge- Where members of our department jump into Lake Michigan 24 times in 24 hours once an hour in February collecting sponsorships as donations.

Cop on the Rooftop- Where members of our department stand on the roof of Dunkin Donuts collecting donations and raising awareness for Special Olympics of Illinois.

Tip-A-Cop- Where members of our department help servers at our local Red Robin and the tips we raise are donations to Special Olympics of Illinois.

Orland Park Police Department’s Bike Ride for Special Olympics of Illinois- A 14.4 bike ride in August where we go pedal through Orland Park and all of the registration fees go to Special Olympics of Illinois.

Taste of Orland Park- Where members of our departments sells t-shirts and raffle tickets for a chance to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

For 2012, Orland Park Police Department ranked 10th in the state of Illinois and raised just over $20,000.00.
