Grasslands Regional Detention Facility 3/30/16
Project Status
The Grassland Regional Flood Control Facility is located south of 167th Street and west of Steeplechase Parkway.  This project will provide 100-year level upstream protection of the Grasslands Subdivision from the vacant farmland located west of the subdivision.  The Village has already secured a United States Army Corp of Engineers permit for the project and is in the final stages of obtaining the required dam permit from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Office of Water Resources.  We anticipate receiving the dam safety permit in the next two months and construction is scheduled for Summer 2016.

Project History
The Village Board approved a proposal from Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (CBBEL) to perform Project Management Services for the Grasslands Regional Detention Facility project located at approximately 11500 167th Street west of the Grasslands Subdivision.  These services would allow the preparation of the documents, plats, etc. needed to transfer the property from private ownership to the Village.  This transfer of property would be the final step in securing the permitting needed to complete the upper portion of the dam and finalize the project.  CBBEL recently received the Notice to Proceed and the next step of collecting the field survey data needed to prepare the documents is scheduled for next week.
