The Mayors Campaign to End Bullying, The Village of Orland Park, The Bridge Teen Center and The South/Southwest Bully Coalition organized the first annual FAMILY DAY, August 15, 2015!

An event you have with your family, at the location of your choice!

The purpose of FAMILY DAY is for families to set aside one day to connect and share a meal together – whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. The hope is to have at least ONE HOUR unplugged, free of social media and electronics, allowing for meaningful conversations and quality time together.

Today’s busy culture is leading to the disappearance of the family dinner table, and our young people are paying the price. The absence of families taking time to connect can be directly linked to increased depression, anxiety, eating disorders and thoughts of suicide. Research also indicates that spending time with family around the dinner table greatly reduces the effects of bullying among young people.

The Village of Orland Park Mayor, Daniel J. McLaughlin and The Bridge Teen Center, Executive Director, Priscilla Steinmetz, have asked that community organizations, institutions, companies and religious institutions refrain from scheduling events on this day.

Please join us in celebrating FAMILY DAY
on Saturday, August 15, 2015.
