Orland Park’s ongoing Tree Trimming Program has resulted in a supply of wood chips available for Village residents on a first-come basis. Public Works employees have been mulching the trees they have been trimming and the end product is now available, free to residents.

During daylight hours, Orland Park residents may bring their own containers to collect the free chips at the north entrance to the Public Works Facility, 15655 South Ravinia Avenue.

Mulch helps retain the soil’s moisture, provides weed and grass control, and protects tree trunks and surface roots from mowing equipment. Mulch also offers erosion control, breaking the rain’s impact and helps improve the appearance of landscaping.
