Driveways
Overview
Permit is required for all work done on driveways (concrete or asphalt), including but not limited to: replacement, widening, installation, etc.

Permit fee is $60.

Needed to apply for permit:
  • Completed permit application
  • Legible copy of legal Plat of Survey
  • Dimensions for driveway, before and after change
  • Contractor
  • Cost of work

Widths and Lengths
Residential Sidewalk, Pation & Driveway Concrete Requirements or  Land Development Code Section 6-406.6 

The maximum width for driveways for single family residences including circle drives shall be 20 feet at the building line and 20 feet at the curb; provided, however, that where a two-car or three-car garage is located within 30 feet of the property line, the driveway shall not exceed 26 feet in width at the building line or 26 feet in width at the curb or 36 feet at the building line and 36 feet at the curb line respectively.

No driveway shall encroach upon any portion of the parkway in front of the adjoining property. The maximum width for driveways for all other uses shall be as approved by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the Department of Engineering. Minimum driveway length is 20 feet, excluding right-of-way and sidewalks.

Weather Restrictions
Due to weather conditions in our region, the Village of Orland Park has a cut off date for exterior concrete flatwork. This period will begin on November 15th and extend to March 15th for flatwork which typically includes driveways, sidewalks, and exposed slabs on grade.  For more details on Cold Weather Concrete Requirements and Restrictions, please click here.

Required Inspections
A Pre-Pour inspection of the base and forms is required.  Requests for inspection need to be made at least 24 hours in advance.  Click here for a link to inspection request information.  Inspection requests are not taken over the phone.
