Retaining walls may be permitted in front, side, and rear setbacks, so long as they are located at least three (3) feet within the lot lines and do not obstruct storm water flow. A structural permit is required if the retaining wall exceeds two (2) feet in height. For every foot of height over two (2) feet, the retaining wall must be at least two (2) additional feet from the property line, in addition to a minimum distance of three (3) feet from the property line.
Required at the time of application for a permit:
- Completed permit application
- Drawing sealed by a structural engineer if wall exceeds two feet.
Permit fee is $60. Permit will be reviewed by Engineering.
