The village earned an honorable mention in the 2007 City Livability Awards Program, which recognizes mayoral leadership for developing and implementing programs that improve the quality of life in America's cities. Sponsored by The U.S. Conference of Mayors and Waste Management, Orland Park was one of fifteen communities selected from a pool of over 200 applicants nationwide. The village received the award in recognition of its veterans’ programs, which support both veterans and current military personnel.
