Stolen Vehicle Results in Juvenile Arrest

On 08/18/2020 at 10:29PM, the Orland Park Police responded to the 15300 block of LaGrange Rd in reference to a vehicle being stolen from the parking lot. Officers learned that the victim had exited the Hooters Restaurant and started her vehicle when she observed a confrontation in the parking lot.

The victim then exited her vehicle to see what was happening and later observed her vehicle being stolen. The vehicle was observed turning out of the Hooter’s parking lot and traveling south on Lagrange Rd.

Orland Park officers were advised that the vehicle taken was a Silver Hyundai Elantra. Orland Park officers located the vehicle traveling southbound on LaGrange Rd in the 15900 block.

Orland Park Officers, with the assistance of Orland Hills Police Officers, attempted to stop the vehicle at which time the driver fled from the scene on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued and the offender was taken into custody.

While in custody, officers located a black semi-automatic firearm near a curb where the apprehension occurred. The offender was later identified as a juvenile who had a prior arrest in May of 2020 for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The juvenile was charged with the following offenses and transported to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center located at 1100 S. Hamilton Chicago, IL.

• Defacing Identification Mark of Firearms (Class 3 Felony)
• Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony)
• Possession of Stolen Vehicle (Class 2 Felony)
• Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class A Misdemeanor)
