Village of Orland Park Presents Loverboy and Jefferson Starship

Village of Orland Park residents offered first opportunity to purchase tickets for Aug. 24 outdoor concert at Centennial Park West

Orland Park, IL (June 11, 2019)-A new, exciting event has been added to the village’s summer calendar. Two musical acts with tunes that will surely bring back memories for many local fans are heading to Orland Park.

The Village of Orland Park announces a highly anticipated summer concert featuring 80’s classic rock bands Loverboy and Jefferson Starship to take place on Saturday, August 24 at Orland Park’s 12-acre Centennial Park West located at Park Station Boulevard and Somerglen Lane.

“We have a great venue for outdoor concerts here in Orland Park and wanted to bring in some phenomenal bands to close out the summer months,” said Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau. “This will be the first time a concert of this size will take place in Orland Park, but definitely not the last.”

The first concert was held at Centennial Park West in 2011 and has hosted many local area cover bands as well as Chicago’s premier concert and event orchestra, City Lights Orchestra.

A fan favorite, Loverboy has performed for audiences around the world for more than 40 years sharing their popular hits including “Working for the Weekend,” “Turn Me Loose,” “This Could Be the Night,” and many more. They released their album “Get Lucky” in 1981 and it became their best-selling album in the U.S., reaching No. 7 on the Billboard album chartsand selling over four million copies. In the same year, Loverboy received sixJuno Awards (Canada's highest award for music) in one year, a record that still stands today. They were recognized as one of the top five grossing touring acts in the world.

Joining Loverboy will be musical powerhouse Jefferson Starship. Between 1974 and 1984, Jefferson Starship released eight gold and platinum selling albums, 20 hit singles and sold out concerts worldwide with musical hits “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” “Jane,” “We Built this City,” and many others.

“Concerts at Centennial Park West have become a staple of summer in Orland Park,” said Recreation Committee Chair Trustee Jim Dodge. “We are glad to be able to offer this type of outdoor musical entertainment to residents and guests.”
