Posted on 02/25/2013

The Illinois Department of Transportation contractor for the demolition of the old Metra bridge over LaGrange Road in Orland Park has announced a modified schedule because of the weather.

LaGrange Road, from 135th to 143rd Streets in Orland Park, will not be closed overnight on Wednesday, February 20 and Thursday, February 21 because of high winds and predicted snow.

LaGrange Road will be closed on Friday, February 22 from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.; Saturday, February 23 from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.; and Sunday, February 24 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Closures will continue through the week of February 25 with a tentative completion date of March 3, 2013.

IDOT has been demolishing the old Metra Southwest Service bridge over LaGrange Road in advance of additional contracts scheduled to be let this year for the $90 million reconstruction and widening of La Grange Rd. from 131st to 179th Streets.
A new Metra railroad bridge was constructed last summer.
Drivers have been detoured via 143rd Street to Illinois Route 7/Southwest Highway to 135th Street to reconnect to LaGrange Road. All businesses and side streets have remained accessible during the closures.
