IDOT Announces Lane Closure for Railroad Crossing Work at 143rd Street
Posted on 10/08/2012

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has advised the Village of Orland Park that the contractor requires a lane closure for the installation of the railroad signal cantilever arms at the railroad crossing with 143rd Street. Traffic will be narrowed to one lane with flaggers controlling the flow of traffic between Beacon Avenue and Union Avenue.

Also, the right lane of westbound 143rd Street will be closed in order to funnel traffic to a single lane while the railroad crossing arms are erected.

The closure will begin on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 9 p.m. and continue until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

The new Metra overpass, relocation of the railroad tracks and the Village of Orland Park's new pedestrian overpass over LaGrange Road north of 141st Street paralleling the Southwest Highway LaGrange Road overpass are being constructed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, as a slight travel delay may occur for affected traffic.
