Log Rolling, Concerts & Reptiles Fill Village Calendar June 11 to 14

The 2016 Inaugural U.S. Log Rolling Open tournament is this Saturday, June 11, at the Village of Orland Park's Lake Sedgwick in Centennial Park, 15600 West Avenue. The free event takes place from noon to 5 p.m. and is open to the public. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for an afternoon of exciting professional log rolling competition! Concessions will be available for purchase. Guests may park for no charge at the Metra train lots at 153rd and 104th Ave or at the second lot via 108th & Jillian Road.

In a log rolling competition, opponents step onto a floating log, spin it repeatedly, stop or snub it suddenly to try to reverse the motion of the log in order to send their opponents into the water. The Village of Orland Park continues its Military Concert Series on Sunday, June 12 with its Flag Day Concert, featuring the Encore Concert Band. Concert begins at 2 p.m. at Crescent Park, located at the 143rd Street Train Station.

Bring your lawn chairs and refreshments and enjoy the Encore Concert Band perform a concert to honor the flag of the United States and reflect on the foundation of our nation's freedom. Hosted by the village's Veterans Commission, the concert will feature guest speaker Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient, Allen Lynch.

In 2014, the Village of Orland Park was named a commemorative partner for the Vietnam War Commemoration planned by the United States Department of Defense. The music continues on Flag Day with an evening Concert in the Park featuring local rockers, The Walk-Ins. This favorite Chicagoland cover band performs Sunday, June 12, at 6 p.m. at Crescent Park. Bring a lawn chair, snacks and get ready to groove with a night of rock and roll music spanning hits from the 1950s to today. Hear radio favorites from The Beatles to O.A.R.

Fun in the Park kicks off with Reptile Rampage on Tuesday, June 14! The fun begins at 11 a.m. at Mallard Landings Park, 17169 Deer Run Drive. Pack up the kids and bring a picnic lunch and head to Mallard Landings Park for a chance to get up close and personal with lizards, crocodilians, turtles and more!
