Orland Park History Museum Offers September Events

From wine tasting to sports history, the September events at the Orland Park History Museum offer something for everyone

Orland Park, IL (August 22, 2019)- The Village of Orland Park history Museum is gearing up for an event- filled September as they introduce new event options as well as bring back some community favorites.

“We’ve added some great events to the museum calendar for September,” said Village of Orland Park Trustee and Museum Liaison Kathy Fenton. “We’ll kick things off with our Fashionistas Through the Decades exhibit showcasing the history of ladies’ fashion.”

The Fashionistas Through the Decades: The History of Ladies’ Fashion exhibit opener will be held on Saturday, September 7 from 12-2 p.m. where guests can expect a brief discussion about the exhibit and enjoy refreshments.

“The exhibit will tell the story of women’s fashion through textiles from the museum’s permanent collection dating back to the 1860’s,” said Orland Park History Museum Curator Sarah Stasukewicz. “It really is amazing to see how fashion has evolved over the years and the trends that took place throughout the decades.”

The exhibit will run from September 7, 2019 through January 4, 2020.

Are you more into sports than fashion? Check out the museum’s Friday, September 13, 2019 event, Black Sox, Billy Goats and the Monsters of the Midway: Chicago Sports featuring guest speaker, Clarence Goodman. Goodman plans to present a history of Chicago sports including what he describes as “weird history and somewhat sordid tales” while offering something for every Chicago sports enthusiast. The event will be held from 6-7:30 p.m.

“We are thrilled to have the engaging Clarence Goodman present at the museum,” said Fenton. “Sports enthusiasts such as me will not want to miss this event. I can’t wait to learn what Goodman has to stay about my beloved Chicago Bears.”

Pre-registration is recommended with a fee of $10 for museum members and $15 for non-members.

On, Friday, September 20, 2019, the museum will host Ladies’ Wine Night, a fundraiser benefitting future programming and museum preservation supplies. The vastly-popular Sensory Illusionist-Jeanette Andrews returns to the Orland Park History Museum on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 7 p.m. “We are thrilled to have Andrews back again this year after a fabulous event and performance last year,” said Stasukewicz.
