The Village of Orland Park Farmers' Market will open its eighth season on Friday, May 29 at 7:30 am on the grounds of the Village Center, 14700 South Ravinia Avenue.

Over 30 vendors will be selling fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants, gourmet food items, oils, bakery goods, crafts, jewelry, baskets, doggie biscuits, household and personal items, sunglasses, purses and more.

Farmer Frank's barbecue lunches featuring hot dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers, brats and chicken sandwiches along with a bag of chips, a drink and a cookie are available to purchase at a nominal price from June through August. Several community organizations sponsor the weekly lunches. Proceeds from the lunches benefit these community organizations. This year's sponsors include the Open Lands of Orland Park, Illinois Vest-A-Dog, American Legion, VFW and Susan G. Komen For the Cure.

Kids will be able to enjoy the free moon jump, balloons and the Orland Park Library Story Time.

New to the market this year is the village's "Green Tent." Information will be available on how you can help the environment within your community. There will be information on Village "green" activities, craft projects, the ComEd Community Challenge and occasional demonstrations. The Open Lands of Orland Park Commission will be taking orders for the purchase of rain barrels. Visitors will be able to enter the Village Green Challenge to earn points to use in a drawing for valuable prizes.

The market will be open every Friday (except July 3 and July 31) rain or shine, from 7:30 am to 1 pm, May 29 through October 2, 2009.
