Orland Park Police Chief Tim McCarthy recently presented appreciation awards to two local businesses, thanking them for their support of the Orland Park Police Department.

C.J. Wilson Mazda of Orland Park was honored for its continued support of the department and its public safety programs. Eric Vates, vice-president of the C.J. Wilson Automotive Group, accepted a plaque for the group's continued contributions to many of the police department's programs and events.

"C.J. Wilson Mazda has been a tremendous supporter of the Orland Park Police Department and its programs," McCarthy said. "They have helped make a number of our community outreach programs possible and we appreciate their continued support."

The C.J. Wilson Automotive Group is owned by Los Angeles Angels Pitcher C.J. Wilson. The Orland Park dealership is located at 8910 West 159th Street in Orland Park.

Chief McCarthy also presented an appreciation award to Christine and Bill Vanderbilt, owners of Firehouse Subs in Orland Park. Vanderbilts made the department aware of a grant through their company facilitating the purchase of an additional automated external defibrillator (AED) for the department.

"Each of our squad cars is equipped with an AED and the Vanderbilts made it possible for the department to secure an additional AED that we can use if one is sent in for repairs," McCarthy said. "We thank them for making us aware of the grant through Firehouse Subs and for being such a community oriented Orland Park business."

Firehouse Subs in Orland Park is located at 15892 South LaGrange Road.
