Posted on 09/10/2010

The Orland Park Theatre Troupe will hold auditions for its holiday production, "A Candle In The Window," on Monday, October 4 and Tuesday, October 5 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Old Orland Park Village Hall, 14415 South Beacon Avenue.

A small group of weary travelers discovers the power of the season while trapped in a lonely train station on Christmas Eve. As a blizzard rages outside, the troubled people are forced to turn to each other for companionship. The story continues with a mysterious visit, renewed spirit and resolve.

"This is a heart warming show that will be performed just in time for the holidays," said Recreation Operations Manager Irene Buikema, executive producer of the village's shows. "We know that a lot of families look for quality holiday entertainment this time of year and our shows are close to home and reasonably priced," she added.

Actors age eight through adults are invited to audition with readings from the script. Once cast, participants must pay a $35 registration fee. Rehearsals will be Sunday afternoons from noon until 4:00 p.m. and Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m, with children released by 9:00 p.m. Performances are December 10, 11 and 12.

"When I first read this script, it was easy to visualize the show and how much an Orland Park audience would enjoy it," said Theatre Troupe Producer/Director Frann Carnivele-Sidlow. "It's a beautiful story that will warm everyone's hearts just in time for the holidays," she added. Carnivele-Sidlow will produce the show, which will be directed by Ashely Miletich of Homer Glen with Bob Szczepanski, of Orland Park, serving as assistant director.
