The Village of Orland Park Veterans Commission will hold its eleventh annual Steak Fry for Orland Park veterans on Sunday, October 3, 2010. The 1:00 p.m. event will be held at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 South Ravinia Avenue.

"We congratulate the village's Veterans Commission for offering this event every year for the last eleven," said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin. "This is a great opportunity for Orland Park veterans of all ages to gather for a meal and enjoy each other's company," the mayor added.

Tickets are $9.00 per person and include dinner and beverages, limit two per veteran. Beer, wine and soft drinks are included in the ticket price. Musical entertainment will be provided by Rocco Carioto Productions from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

"The steak fry dates well back into military history," said Veterans Commission Chair Tom Dubelbeis. "When serving overseas, it was always a treat to be able to sit down and enjoy a steak," he added. "This is why the Veterans Commission does this each year, to bring back the camaraderie of enjoying a meal with the members of your unit," he explained.

The Steak Fry is open to Orland Park veterans only. If a non-resident is a member of an Orland Park military organization, i.e., the Orland Memorial American Legion Post #111 or the Orland-Palos Reber-Tesmond Veterans of Foreign Wars #2604, a membership card must be presented to purchase tickets. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Cashier's Office at Orland Park's Frederick T. Owens Village Hall, 14700 South Ravinia Avenue. Tickets will not be available at the door.
