Property Tax Appeal Seminar

Property Tax Appeal Seminar
Posted on 06/02/2010

On Monday, June 7, the Village of Orland Park will host a Property Tax Appeal Seminar with the Cook County Board of Review. Mayor Dan McLaughlin and Cook County Commissioner Brendan Houlihan will hold the seminar on how to appeal your property assessment should you believe you are over assessed in Cook County.

These seminars are opportunities for individual homeowners to seek relief in their property taxes due to a depressed market, and over valuations to their homes. "Residents who weren't able to file an appeal or those who wish to file another appeal are encouraged to bring their reassessment notices or tax bills to the Orland Park Civic Center on June 7," said McLaughlin. "Homeowners should also be aware that Orland Township is open for appeals until June 21," he added.

The only requirement for a review of property assessments is a timely completed appeal form from the Board of Review. The presentation will explain how to file an appeal, and how an appeal is granted. Staff from the Board of Review (property tax appeals board) will be on hand to answer questions and help fill out appeal forms.

The seminar begins at 6:00 pm at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 South Ravinia Avenue. For more information, call Commissioner Houlihan's office at 312-603-3644 or visit the Cook County Board of Review on line at www.CookCountyBoardofReview.com.
