ORLAND PARK, IL – The Village of Orland Park invites all Vietnam Veterans to a special welcome home concert during the Taste of Orland Park 2016, August 5-7.

On Sunday, August 7, a free concert featuring Creedence Revived, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band, will be held for Vietnam Veterans at the main stage at the Taste of Orland Park held at Orland Park’s Village Center.

“The Village of Orland Park is a community partner for the Department of Defense’s observing the 50th anniversary of the war,” said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin. “We’ve held a number of events for Vietnam Veterans and are really looking forward to our welcome home concert at the Taste of Orland Park.”

A ceremony will precede the concert with the presentation of colors at 12:20 p.m. with the concert beginning at 1 p.m.

Orland Park’s Taste of Orland Park is a three day food fest with live entertainment on two stages and activities throughout the Village Center at 14700 South Ravinia Avenue, one block west of LaGrange Road. Admission and parking are free and 20 Orland Park eateries will be showcased.

“We have reached out to as many veterans groups as possible to get the word out,” said Orland Park Veterans Commissioner Tom Dubelbeis, a Vietnam Veteran. “We encourage everyone to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a nice afternoon as we welcome everyone home.”

In 2014, the Village of Orland Park was named a commemorative partner for the Vietnam War Commemoration planned by the United States Department of Defense.

The department is observing the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War during the commemorative period of 2015 to 2017. These events, held across the country, recognize, thank and honor Vietnam Veterans and their families. As a commemorative partner, the Village of Orland Park has held a number of Vietnam related events during the past two years among them hosting the Vietnam Moving Wall in 2015 and having the commemoration logo displayed on the village vehicle sticker.
