Village of Orland Park Graphic Designer Antonio Gentile has a knack for getting people's attention. His eye catching, colorful designs have been promoting village events and programs for the past year.

Gentile's work caught the attention of the Illinois Special Events Network, which recently awarded the designer six statewide Skyscraper Awards at its annual convention. The event was hosted by the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau in Tinley Park.

"Everyone is thrilled with Antonio's six awards. He is an outstanding artist who has done so much to help promote so many facets of the village," said Trustee Pat Gira chair of the village's Recreation, Parks and Environmental Initiatives Committee.

Orland Park was honored for Gentile's flyer created for the Farmers' Market, named the winner among printed materials designed in-house. His Taste of Orland Park poster won top honors as did the Smart Living Green Fair/Health Fair 2010 newspaper insert that he created.

"We were all very excited when Antonio's name was announced," said Director of Recreation Nancy Flores. "He does beautiful work and it's great for his talent to be recognized among agencies from throughout the State of Illinois," Flores added.

Gentile's t-shirt design for the Liberty Run and Walk won as did the benefits program fact sheet he created for the village's Human Resources Division. And, the village's SmartLiving Green Fair 2010 poster was named a winner.

"I was really surprised and honored by the awards," Gentile said. "We have a great team at the village and I enjoy working with everyone to figure out the best way to promote all that's going on," he added.

Gentile holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in graphic design with a minor in photography from Bradley University. He is a graduate of Marist High School.

The Recreation Department employee who lives in Orland Park coaches volleyball throughout the region, serving as the girls' assistant coach at Lincolnway North, boys' assistant coach at Carl Sandburg and as head coach of the Boys' 15 Gold Ultimate Volleyball Club Team in Frankfort.
