Village of Orland Park Sportsplex Introduces FlexPass
Posted on 03/23/2012

The Village of Orland Park Sportsplex FlexPass allows customers to buy an exercise pass that includes discounted Pilates mat and fitness yoga, a Pilates reformer pass or Yogalates and the village's new Booty Barre class. Five or ten Pilates reformer classes are available.

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility, muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back. It was designed by Joseph Pilates, a physical-culturist born in Germany in 1883. He developed a system of exercises during the first half of the 20th century intended to strengthen the human mind and body, believing that mental and physical health were related.

"The village's Pilates Program has really taken off at the Sportsplex," said Fitness Manager Deborah Geghen. "Pilates emphasizes pelvic and spinal alignment while using breathing techniques to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core, which improves coordination and balance," Geghen explained.

Geghen oversees the fitness programs at the village's Sportsplex and is a certified Pilates instructor. "The village's Sportsplex was one of the first facilities in the region to offer the Pilates reformer, chair and tower," Geghen said.

Individuals may purchase a Sportsplex FlexPass for an exercise pass that includes discounted rates for the Pilates Mat and Fitness Yoga or a Pilates Reformer Pass for five or ten classes or the new Booty Barre class.

The Sportsplex FlexPass offers the choice of days and times for participants and is not limited to Sportsplex members, being available for non-members, both village residents and non-residents.
