The Village of Orland Park has announced a mouth-watering menu for its seventh annual Taste of Orland Park. Seventeen Orland Park restaurants will sell a variety of food and drinks during the 3-day village sponsored event, at the Orland Park Village Center, 14700 South Ravinia Avenue. Admission and parking are free.

"The Taste is a salute to Orland Park where we're able to showcase some of the best eateries in town, enjoy local talent and where people can learn more about community groups and organizations," said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin.

Showcased Orland Park restaurants include Burrito Jalisco, Café Gaston, Cooper's Hawk, Culver's of Orland Park, Fatburger, Hienie's McCarthy's, Kismet, Mo's Chinese Kitchen, Oberweis Dairy, Old Town Pizza, Palermo's, Papa Joe's, Plaza Café, R.C. Mulligan's, Rock Bottom Brewery, Sam Maguire's and Taj Mahal.

Menu offerings cover the gamut with American and ethnic dishes, including Irish, Greek, Chinese, Italian, Mexican and Indian/Pakistani.

"It's a great summer festival, close to home, reasonably priced with great food and live entertainment," the mayor added.

Participating restaurants must be located within the Village of Orland Park. When restaurants register, they submit what they'll be serving and each "taste" is no more than $4.00 a dish. Seven of the featured restaurants will also serve alcohol, including beer, wine and a number of specialty drinks. And, all food vendors will have pop and water for sale at their booths.

Village Trustee Kathy Fenton chairs the village's Special Events and Outreach Committee. "The Taste of Orland Park is a summer highlight because it offers so much," Fenton said. "You can try dishes from a number of restaurants, enjoy live entertainment and probably run into old friends and neighbors you haven't seen in a while," she added.

Two stages will offer continuous live entertainment throughout the weekend with the main stages showcasing a number of Chicago area bands playing all types of music.

"When we choose bands to play at the Taste, we look for those that offer the largest appeal. We have country on Friday night, the Beatles' tribute band American English playing Saturday night, Midwest Dueling Pianos playing Sunday afternoon and Hi-Infidelity closing the festivities Sunday evening," said Media and Special Events Manager Patty Vlazny who co-chairs the event with Civic Center Manager Gail Blummer.

Blummer added, "The Taste of Orland Park offers something for everyone, for the little ones at Kids' Day, the car buffs on Sunday, community groups getting their messages out and live entertainment and great food."
