Village Raises Concerns About Revenue Sharing

In a letter to state legislators, Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin urged law makers to resist any efforts to further reduce the revenue sharing formula from the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF). In his correspondence, the mayor noted that more than half of all municipal revenue is used to fund priorities including public safety, water and sewer services and baseline local services.

McLaughlin is urging the General Assembly to follow what municipalities have already done, including recalibrating their work forces and programs to meet the new revenue environment without pushing the responsibility down to local governments.
