ORLAND PARK, IL (June 26, 2018) – The Village of Orland Park’s Centennial Park Aquatic Center (CPAC) marked the first month of its 27th season earning a five star safety rating from StarGuard Elite. The unannounced safety audit took place on Saturday, June 23.

“Congratulations to the team at the village’s aquatic center,” said Trustee Dan Calandriello, chair of the village’s Recreation and Parks Committee. “There are so many things to be proud of in Orland Park and the village’s premier aquatic center is certainly one of them."

Auditors from StarGuard Elite observed and evaluated lifeguards on duty and then conducted rescue scenarios to assess the facility’s emergency action plan and the competence of the staff. The review culminates with an assessment of the risk management practices, policies, and procedures in place at the facility.

In the report, the auditor wrote, “The staff at Orland Park’s Centennial Park Aquatic Center is committed to excellence in every way. They strive to meet and exceed every industry's standard and hold high expectations for their guards. Keep up the great work!”

“The village’s aquatic center is a huge part of summers in Orland Park,” said Director of Recreation Nancy Flores. “We are very proud of the entire team at the pool and all of our employees who work hard to ensure a safe and fun environment for our guests.”

The Centennial Park Aquatic Center offers a zero-depth pool with a water play feature, two body speed slides, 328-foot tube slide, a 200-foot flume slide, a platform cliff jump, a drop slide and a lazy river.

“The 5-star rating is a very difficult score to achieve as the staff must demonstrate excellence in several different scenarios and criterions,” explained Recreation Division Manager Ray Piattoni. “We have received more than 25 perfect 5-star safety ratings over the last nine years at CPAC.”

“Everyone has a role to play and they do it very well,” said Brett Sprague, aquatic and ice rink manager for the village. “From the staff at the admission window to the building maintenance and parks staff to the guards who keep swimmers safe in a dynamic environment --- everyone should be commended for a job well done. Congratulations to the squad 1 group for earning the five star rating.”

The village’s aquatic park is located at 15600 West Avenue. Further information about the center is available by calling 708/349-4FUN (4386) or the village's Recreation Department at 708/403-7275.
