Registering for Village of Orland Park Recreation Department programs is about to get easier. The village will unveil its online program registration with its fall offerings beginning August 10. The Recreation Department Fall, 2012 Program Guide will be available prior to registration opening for online previewing July 27.

"The Village of Orland Park is very pleased to make online registration available for its Recreation Department programs," said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin. "This will make it easier for busy people to register from the comfort of their own homes any time of the day," the mayor said.

Village residents will be able to register online beginning August 10 for select programs listed in the Village of Orland Park Recreation Department Fall 2012 Program Guide. Non-residents will have the same opportunity beginning August 22. The new guide will be distributed in print form in the August 2 edition of the Orland Park Prairie Newspaper. Programs not available for online registration will be noted in the guide.

"Being able to register online is a wonderful service for everyone who enjoys the village's recreation programs, classes and trips," said Trustee Pat Gira, chair of the village's Recreation and Parks Committee. "With so many offerings each season, Orland Park's programs appeal to a wide variety of people. Online registration will make it easier for everyone to access and enjoy them," Gira added.

Recreation Department participants who have registered with the village in the past and have provided email addresses will be able to register without having to contact the Recreation Administration Office. Participants can visit the village's website at www.orland-park.il.us and click on the "register online" button. Patrons may request their information by clicking on the "login/forgot information" button and the information will be sent to the email address on file.

"We're pleased to be able to add to the electronic services already offered by the village," McLaughlin continued. "The e-services area of the village's website includes everything from online water billing, permit forms, a calendar of events and more. Expanding our online offerings gives residents a number of options," he said.

New participants who have not previously registered for village programs must visit the Recreation Administrative Office, 14600 South Ravinia Avenue, or the village's Sportsplex at 11351 West 159th Street to verify residency and obtain login and pin information.

"Online recreation program registration is a great addition to the electronic services already offered by the village," said Trustee Jim Dodge, chair of the village's Technology, Communications and Community Outreach Committee.

"We expect this new service to be very popular, just as the online water billing has been," Dodge said, adding, "I invite everyone to visit the e-services area of the village's website to see the different online options available."

"When people visit the e-services area of the village's website, they can sign up for other village notifications, including news releases and the village's Global Connect Network," McLaughlin said. Free subscription to the village's emergency notification system enables residents and businesses to receive recorded emergency telephone calls from the village, most recently used to notify residents of the change in outdoor water use.

Online access details and more information are available by calling the Village of Orland Park Recreation Department at 708/403-PARK or 645-PLAY or by sending an email to orlandrecreation@orland-park.il.us.
